Beautylicious Review: Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Polish

There are many types of sugar in market which came in different colours, sizes and benefits. Each and every type came with its own specialty either in cooking or beauty usage.

Black sugar is a common ingredient in Asian cooking. Black sugar is healthier and more tasty than white processed sugar; brown sugar has a few of the benefits of black sugar, but really isn't as good. 

It can look quite similar to brown sugar, but black sugar is even darker - almost black. Black sugar is popular in Taiwan. Compared to processed sugar, which has a very flat, characterless taste, black sugar is 'round', with a lot more flavor.  Unlike processed sugar, black sugar contains molasses, plus potassium, iron, calcium and other minerals.

Thus if you are bumped into the Klairs Black Sugar Polish, then you are the lucky ones. I received mine about few months ago from Natta De Cosme and was unable to share my review back then due to my face condition. Due to some whitening product that I came across with, I suffered massive breakouts and thus causing me to have difficulties to show my naked face picture especially in public.

However, thanks to Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Polish because now my massive breakouts is now reduced and in fact it getting better. Also thanks to its Black Sugar formula, this product not only meant for cleanse, but it also brighten up my complexion. 

Description about the product

This sugar scrub for face contains an abundance of black sugar. Black sugar aids in the removal of dead skin cells and blackheads. It exfoliates of dry skin with ease and adds a glossy smooth look to the skin. When the seasons change, the skin tends to become a bit uneven with dry patches. These dry patches and cause makeup to apply unevenly and look “caked”. By using the Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Scrub for Face once a week, you can achieve smooth soft skin that is perfect for makeup application. If you use Klairs gentle black sugar scrub with a cleansing oil, you can see even better results!

Features

This product suitable for all skin type and is recommended for every skincare routine. As a result you would feel the instant moisture on the skin. The skin appears more flexible. Not only that, it contain Anti-aging treatment which one of the great element to keep us to look young and freeeee.

For those who are having any skin problem such as eczema, rashes, acne or pimples, this product would relief you from minor dermatologist problems. This product would exfoliate and remove the dead skin cells. Not only that, it will also remove blackheads and whiteheads while preventing new ones. This product would also remove and treat flaking dry skin. Its a great news for me who is having a very dry skin condition.

Product Texture & Scent

The first time I feel the texture, it filled with granule of sugar (in bright brown colour). The combination of shea butter content makes it bit greasy but its thick and non dry. Upon swatched it to the back of my hand, I can feel the granule of the sugar ran through my skin and I love how it exfoliate just right and its not too harsh to the skin.  

When I smell it for the first time, it scented like a herbal. Its a combination of turmeric and other spices which I cant tell. Nevertheless, thank god the scent is bearable.

How to apply it?

The diagram below would show you step by step how to use the product:-

The above is the recommended way of how you can apply the product to the skin. However, at my case, the way how I apply the product is as follows:-

1. After I cleanse my face, I just applied the right amount of the Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Polish to selected part of my face. My concern part would be my nose area (due to whiteheads and blackheads), cheek, forehead, chin and other area (due to the dead skin cells). 

2. After apply some of the product, I started to massage my skin in circular motion. With the sugar granule assistance, it helps to exfoliate and triggered the face muscle and the face cells. This would enhance the blood capillary movement and thus the cell reproduction process is much faster and resulting your skins more tighter. 

3. Whilst applying the product, I did not apply any water because the sugar granule itself melted after a while (I believe this due to our hot humid and body heat). Hence, it did not cause any harsh to the skin.

4. It is best to cleanse it with warm water to ensure all the product remnant is fully remove from the face. The result, I feel more fresh, more clean, the my face complexion is much brighter and of course younger!!!

5. Then I proceed with Essence, Serum and Moisturiser to complete my facial care routine. 

My Verdict

I love this product! When comes to scrub product I always go with a slight bigger granule and sandy type and hence, Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Polish is just perfect for all.

[Beautylicious Review]: Facial Cotton Puff ; Watson VS Guardian

Hola Beautylicious!!! This is a bit random but I feel like sharing my thought about this one particular beauty essential which is Cotton Facial Square Puff or Pad or whatever you call it.

For the past few years, I've been using the facial square cotton from Watson that came in cute boxes in three. Sometimes the box design is either some cartoon characters (but the box mostly is in PINK colour). I call this their so called "Premium Product".

Well recently I ran out of it and was in rush to get a replacement. So, my boyfriend just dropped me at Guardian nearby and I gotten myself the facial cotton (which was in promotion; buy 3 free : Cost at RM10.70)  that I also think is their so called "Premium product".

My Experience

I tried the Guardians' one and I personally don't really like it. When I ran my toner or rosehip water over my face, I don't feel the softness and the puffiness of the cotton. Instead, it was dry, rough and the material was too dense. Due to that, it doesn't really pick-up so much of dirt on my skin compared to Watsons'. 

Another annoying part is, while I was applying the toner / rosehip water, I can feel few strands of cotton sticking on my face. I personally hate it. To be honest I never encounter this problem with Watson's brand.

As for the Watson's brand, the cotton feels more soft to the skin and it help to absorb and scrap away all the impurities. My skin feels more clean and the best part is, the effectiveness of the product is proven with the right applicator and for this case Watson's Facial Cotton Puff.

My Verdict  

Did I regret of buying it? Yes and furthermore I have 3 more boxes that I haven't use. I might give it to my friends or my boyfriend's mother to avoid it gone waste.

Korean Inspired Looks with The Butterfly Christmas Box

Hello Ma Beautylicious. It has been a while since my last post in January 2015. The post continue with more product review curated in Christmas Box by the Butterfly Project.

We were given few products from various cosmetic brands and were assigned to create a makeup look for 2015. I was totally madly deeply in love with Kim Soo-Hyun and Lee Min-Ho (1987) after I watched "My Love From Another Star" and "Faith". I was totally inspired with korean makeup styles especially with their fresh, dewy and simple makeup look. One of the element that quite obvious in their look is gradient lips. It creates an illusion of smaller and cute lips. You would tends to look more like baby doll with bigger puppy eyes. I wish I am 5 shades fairer than my tone now for this look. Never mind, when there is a will, there is always ways to make things happen.

From the Christmas Box, I identified the following products which I can use to create this look:-

1. Always 21 Aloe Vera Moisturise Soothing Mist (Retails at RM39/100ml)

2. Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop in Baby Shock (Retails at RM14.90)

3. Collection Cosmetics Hotlights Lip Gloss in shade 02 Dazzle (Retails at RM24.90)

4. Dolly Wink Black Liquid pen eyeliner (Retails at RM55.90)

5. Maybelline Colour Show nail lacquer in pink voltage  (Retails at RM9.90)

To be honest, I watched way too many makeup tutorials how to achieve this look and I hope this post would help you to achieve the same only with these products! Try to create yours and do share with me your looks! 

I learned that to create this look, you need to ensure your skin is fully prep with facial skin care routine. When my face is ready, I started with the very first product originated all the way from KOREA, i.e. Always 21 Aloe Vera Moisturise Soothing Mist. OMG I seriously love the scent! It is so refreshing and perfect for summer breeze. I spray it all over my face and its now fully prepared for the next step.

Then I conceal my under eyes with Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer in shade light. This steps is to eliminate the dark circle under my eyes. To brighten up on certain part of my face, I also applied the same at the bridge of my nose, at my higher cheek bone, the tip of my upper lips, on my forehead and little bit on my chin. Then with foundation brush, I blend blend and press pat the product to my skin.

Next product, I use my favourite Chanel CC Cream. To achieve an even skin tone, I applied evenly all over my face with my foundation brush. Then I conceal my under eyes again with my favourite concealer, Collection Cosmetics Lasting Perfection Concealer in shade light medium. Then to set all with my favourite powder by Anna Sui Powder Foundation. When apply my powder, I prefer to use a powder brush to give a lighter touch. Then your skin won't look too cakey with too much of product on the skin.

Next move on to my eyebrows. For this look, Korean brows is more straight with no defined arch. This would create a softer look. To create the brows, I use my favourite Brow stick from Daiso. Its a product from Japan and it only cost at RM5. I love Daiso product!

To create my eyes look, I use my favourite eyeshadow palette i.e. Girls On Film by Makeup Revolution. With the lightest purple matte shades in the palette and its called "One In a Million", I applied evenly all over my lids. Then with smaller brush, I applied matte brown colour (i.e. Give me Shudder) at the outer corner of my lids and bring it down to the lower corner of the eyes.

   

Then finish of with Dolly Wink Black Pen liquid eyeliner. The trick is to draw the line downwards and create a puppy eye look. I extend the liner by creating the wings downwards. This would gives an illusion of bigger eyes.

Again I reach my Girls On Film Palette and apply the lightest shimmery shades i.e. Walking Hand in Hand and Bridge at Midnight and apply it as a highlighter to my face. Only highlight at the best features to emphasis certain area example, cheekbones and at the bridges of my nose.

Next product from the box, I use Maybelline Baby Lips Electric Pop. This is a tinted lip balm that would gives a pop of colour to your lips. It enhance the the moisture level to keep your lips hydrated whole day. I only apply at the center of my lips to gives the gradient effect to my lips. then I apply the concealer at the outer corner of the lips to lighten the lip shades. This then would enhance the gradient effects to it. Then finish the looks with Collection Lip Gloss to gives a glossing touch.

With the same Maybelline Baby Lips Electric Pop, I applied some to the apple of my cheeks to give a hint of glows and rosy touch as a blusher.

[Beautylicious Review]: SHIZENS Lips Tattoo

Having lips tattooed of course is something new for me. But if its for temporarily and in a good way - why not? So I took the challenge by Butterfly Project to do a review of this product called "Lip Tattoo by SHIZENS". This product is one of the main featured product in Xmas Christmas Box.

Little bit info about SHIZENS. SHIZENS is a skin care and cosmetics brand originated from Korea. Their products were made by natural and botanical ingredients. For them it is better to enhance your beauty naturally instead of having tonnes of makeup on your skins which would not last. 

This product contains Water, Mineral Oil, Caprylic / capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Bees Wax and many more. The contents are mainly botanical and natural and hence it is safe to use.

Let me share more about this product. The product came in liquid form which looks similar like other lip product but in white colour. The consistency of the liquid is quite thick and moisturising. Once applied, it will gradually change into pinkish colour and the stain would last for couple of hours. I gathered that the pinkish stain would change depending on your body temperature. Means, the warmer your body is, the pinkish your lip colour will turn to be. So imagine when your have a fever. With this product, you will look more prettier instead of sick and pale ~ okay now I look forward to see myself with this product when I got sick!!

I've been having chapped, dark brown and dry lips since small. That is why I was never a huge fan of lip glosses as it never helps to enhance my lips colour. Some of the lipstick with lighter and sheer shades never works on me due to my lips pigmentation.

  

Let see the result before and after

This is my lips before and after the application. As I mentioned earlier, my lips were uneven, dark brown in colour, chapped and dry which not beautylicious at all. But miracle happen right after the very first application, as you can see my lips turn more pinkish, bold and fuller. The colour is not as strong as expected and is more natural and sheer.

My Verdict

Well, this product claimed to improves your lips condition such as fine lines, pigmentation, dryness and turn it into more healthy, rosy and moisture lips. I only use it for few weeks so I am yet to see any drastic changes to my lips. Guess I need to apply it everyday without fail to see its effectiveness.

Well do I like the product? For me its ok but for the price its bit pricey. If the result would gives the benefit as it claimed why not.

MUFE Aqua Range - so Aqualistic!

The combination of these three elements creates the marvelous waterproof product by MUFE.

So how it works? 

As you can see in the diagram below, the products once applied to the skin, would triggered the Volatile Oils and Synthetic Wax to ensure the Pigments and Mother of Pearl to set on the skin. The Polymer Film once it dry, it would create one protection layer that would avoid any penetration  of element (this includes water) into the product.

The drying process would take seconds and it is best to blend the product quickly to avoid any harsh look.

Storage

It is best to keep the container of the product remained close and intact. As mentioned earlier, the drying process would take seconds and it is important to keep the consistency and moisture of the product. Example for the Aqua Cream Shadow, in between application, you may turn the product up side down to avoid any contact with the air.

2014 Summer Collection

For 2014, MUFE has launched their new products for Aqua Range. The selections of colours were madness with strong and bold colours. Neon is so in this year and it still look chic by wear it alone!.

Revolutionary Artisan Brushes by MUFE

It took 7 years of research, hardship, endless discussions and development to build this technology. It has taken most of the Scientist and beauty consultant specialist time to combine all the ideas to produce not only 10, but 76 types (including Kabuki Brush which was in retail much earlier) of Revolutionary Artisan Brushes (RAB) all the way from Paris, exclusively by MAKE UP FOR EVER.

Recently I had in-situ experience with these brushes and I was so amazed how these brushes works. Make Up For Ever Malaysia flew in Ms Erika Saenz, the MUFE Regional Educational Manager all the way from Philippine to share with us the awesomeness of this brushes.

Ms. Erika Saenz shared with us the newly improved technology of the RAB 

What so special about this brushes? Why it took them 7 years to produce such? Well, the RAB was created in such way for perfections, define, durable and artistic at the same time. The bristles were made by varies type of engineered fibers to create almost perfect brushes not only closer to the natural hair, in fact better!! Can you imagine that each and every brushes were handcrafted and hence you would find that each and every type of these brushes is non identical to each other. Whichever brushes that you own is personalized and hence it would be only yours - truly.

Every RAB portion is divided into four sections:-

A.   Bristles

The bristles were made by Engineered Bi-Colour Fibers. They came in three types:-

1/ Straight – perfect for liquid product for better pick-up. Not only that, the application of the product is  more tense.

2/ Wavy – perfect for powder, soft touch and subtle finish.

Wavy type bristles

3/ Straight & Wavy – this type of bristles is perfect to create either both of the above depending on the needs.

To identify the types of bristle, it stated at the wood handle. Each and every line of fiber was planted into its ferrule according to its shape.

B.   The Gun Metal Ferrule

The gun metal ferrule was created to hold the bristles at its best. The grip was carefully done to avoid the bristles to loose. Then the bristle would last up to 10 years!! (i.e. disclaimer: this is depending how hardcore user you are) 

C.   The Dark Brown Wenge-Inspired Wood Handle

The brown handle wood is made by beech wood. It is a type of wood which is durable and also can stand with water damage and heat. The handle shape was created for a perfect hold. Gives you an extra control of the brush while applying the product on the surface.

D.   Beveled Tips

Slight angled tips at the end of the wood handle.  For multiple usage eg. you may use this angled tips to mix two different foundations shades, or you also can use it to pat your eye lashes.

To see how effective these brushes works on the products, she did a demo and made a comparison for the application between fingers and brushes. She also shared with us some tips the perfect ways to use the RAB.

The RAB is divided into 4 different codes and these codes represents it's unique usage for our face/body parts.

Code no 1XX - FACE Brushes
- These brushes designed for FACE. Consist of 7 different types for foundation, 8 types for Powder, 4 types for Concealer & 11 types for Blusher.

Code no at 2XX - EYES Brushes
- These brushes designed for eyes. Consist of 4 types for eyebrows/Eyelashes, 7 types for Eyeliner and 24 types for Eyeshadow.

Code no 3XX - LIPS Brushes
- These brushes designed for lips. Consist of 4 different types to choose from.

Code no 4XX - ARTISTIC Brushes
- These brushes consist of 8 different brushes for artistic effect. These unique brushes was designed and mainly use for body art/paint. The design of the bristles was created in a unique way to achieve desire effect on the body surface.

I asked Stanley (the former MUFE Educational Manager, Malaysia), why Dany created 76 brushes? Stanley said, "we human are unique and carry our own personality in our own way. Dany realised that and thus the 76 unique brushes were created in such way to cater everybody's need. In regardless whether you are in professional make-up line or just a normal user, for every part and inch of your body, there is a specific brush for it and all of this you can get at the  MAKE UP FOR EVER!"

The Splashes of 210 MUFE Artist Shadow

To celebrate 30 years anniversary, Make Up For Ever (MUFE) has launched their newly improved 210 selections splash of Artist Shadow this Fall!

Recently, I was among the first to experience and to also to had in-situ approach of these amazing colours. To share the knowledge of the colours and its journey, Ms. Erika Saenz, the MUFE Regional Training Manager all the way from Philippines shared with us the specialty of these colours.

2. Satiny - Then texture is soft, little bit of shine, and light.

3. Iridecence - The colours so pigmented, bit shiny, strong and bold.

4. Diamond - The texture full with sparkle, shiny, light but the diamond sparkle easily to fall off. So, its best to apply with eye primer 

5. Metallic - The most bold and strong colours among the above. The texture bit creamy, very pigmented, strong and bold. normally available for neon and striking colour range.

The best part about this colour range is, it can be applied to any part of the body. As MUFE is very well known for its specialty in body art, this colours could act as a pigment to work on any skin surface. After the swatches on my hands, I leave it for the whole day and surprisingly some of the colours still intact (more than 24 hours), especially for Iridecence and metal type.

Each colour can be purchased separately and you can customise your colour template based on your selection up to your choice. You may keep the colours either in the ready made pallette (i.e. single, double, triple or magnetic pallette - that can store up to 15 colours).

On the day itself, Ms Erika created two looks with the Artist Shadow. She created Look 1 - smokey eyes from blue shades and it looks sparkle and beautiful! most of the colours used was from Iridecence and diamond effect.

As for the second look, it was called ombrey look and its a shading created from the lightest shades from the inner corner then turns darker to the outer part of the eyes. As you can see below, both looks amazingly stunning and the colours turned out great!

Since that I was there, its incomplete if I did not experience myself with the MUFE 210 Artist Shadowss. With Eugine assistance, she changed me beautifully!!!

I love how intense the colours turned out, daring and brave, perfect for night outing!
